Following Money In The Bank, the 4th of July episode of RAW tonight is set to begin the road to this month’s SummerSlam event. Fans hope to see where WWE will take many of their favorite superstars heading into the “biggest event of the summer.” Although there is no word on whether WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion will Roman Reigns will appear, it seems another SmackDown champion actually might.

Fightful’s Sean Sapp reported behind his paywall that SmackDown’s Intercontinental Champion Gunther is scheduled for tonight’s episode of RAW. Gunther didn’t wrestle at Money In The Bank, so an appearance on tonight’s nor has WWE set up a challenger for the new champion. The report suggests that he may be involved in a segment with R-truth.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther was scheduled for the July 4 episode of WWE Raw, at least as of the morning of the show. Gunther was not featured on WWE Money in the Bank, but is heavily favored by people of influence within the company. We’re told that the original plans called for him to be in a segment with a “very patriotic” R-Truth.

Gunther defeated Ricochet to become the new Intercontinental Champion. His championship win made him the first Austrian to win the historic championship. Fans will have to wait and see how his potential interaction with R-Truth will go down.
