WWE has already had to make big changes for the Money in the Bank premium live event due to UFC 276 taking place in Las Vegas on the same night. The show was originally scheduled for Allegiant Stadium, but slow ticket sales forced it to be moved to the MGM Grand Garden Arena. UFC will run preliminary matches for their event on the ABC network before the pay-per-view goes live, and WWE will be going head-to-head with them.

In the old days, WWE going against a UFC broadcast on network TV would be a major blow to business. In the streaming era, the company may lose viewers to UFC, but the show being on Peacock makes that far less important in terms of revenue. Still, it will be very interesting to see how both shows perform.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the competition on Saturday night. Viewers will have a choice between a very rare MMA event on broadcast TV and WWE’s offering. The timing of Money in the Bank means that it won’t compete with the entirety of the UFC PPV.

“UFC 276 is Saturday, head-to-head, for the most part, with the WWE show. I mean, so WWE’s show will probably be three hours and go from 8 to 11 eastern, and UFC’s probably going to go from 10 to 1:30 or so. There’s not a total overlap, although the WWE show will go head-to-head with UFC on ABC television.”

In Las Vegas, UFC is incredibly popular. UFC 276 has already forced WWE to make a venue change. Now, an audience with a significant crossover will have to choose which show is worth their time.

The stakes are high at Money in the Bank as always. There are future championship shots on the line. WWE is hoping that’s enough to keep fans tuned in, even as UFC runs a huge event just down the street at T-Mobile Arena.
