MJF has been one of the most polarizing figures in wrestling over the last month. AEW’s top heel no-showed meet and greet event before the Double or Nothing pay-per-view. From there, Tony Khan started incorporating various bits of news about Friedman on television. MJF’s story culminated with an intense worked shoot promo that had fans everywhere buzzing.

As part of the storyline that MJF is unhappy with Tony Khan and AEW, all references to the Long Island native were removed from television, the internet, and social media. MJF’s merchandise was removed from AEW’s online shop. The company has gone all-in on making it seem like MJF no longer works there.

One AEW employee had a bit of a slip up during last night’s AEW Dynamite. During commercial breaks, ring announcers Justin Roberts and Dasha Gonzalez typically make light banter with the live crowd. According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dasha absent-mindedly pointed out a controversial MJF sign brought by a fan.

“There were huge MJF chants in the building. Obviously, I don’t think these will be on television. Dasha was reading signs in the crowd and one sign said, ‘Pay MJF,’ and she read that without thinking.”

It was likely an honest mistake on Dasha Gonzalez’s part. Several fans who were in attendance pointed out the gaffe on social media. Typically, these moments never reach the air anyway.

Dasha was likely told to be more careful when having fun with the fans between segments and tapings. Other than that, it was a simple mistake. The positive reaction to MJF might have Tony Khan rethinking some things, though.
