Welcome to Ringside News’ live results, highlights, winners and reactions for the May 8th, 2022 edition of WWE WrestleMania Backlash.

Start time for tonight’s show is 7:00 PM EST with the Kick-Off Show. Match-by-match highlights and results from the show will take place on this very page, so you should update frequently to get the latest happenings. Feel free to leave any reactions in the comment section below.

WrestleMania Backlash is a fitting name for this show because a lot of the matches are rematches from the big showcase last month. And that would be acceptable if so much of this card didn’t feel so underwhelming. One match that isn’t a rematch however, is our main event: The Bloodline Vs. RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre. This match will probably be great once the bell rings, but why no titles are on the line and why Reigns and McIntyre aren’t just having a singles match is anyone’s guess.

Other matches tonight will see Cody Rhodes Vs. Seth Rollins, Edge Vs. AJ Styles, Bobby Lashley Vs. Omos, and Happy Corbin Vs. Madcap Moss. The only title match scheduled for this year’s Backlash is an I Quit match between Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey. Kevin Owens main evented WrestleMania last month, and he’s not on the show tonight. Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch stole the show at WrestleMania and they aren’t booked either. Suffice to say this show feels pretty thrown together, but we’re going to watch it together anyway!

Kick-Off Show

The Kick-Off Show is hosted by Kayla Braxton, Booker T, Kevin Patrick, JBL, and Peter Rosenberg. They wish all the mothers a happy Mother’s Day and run down the card for tonight’s show.

We see a video package for Seth Rollins Vs. Cody Rhodes. Booker T says Seth Rollins is right to say Cody had the advantage at WrestleMania. He says Cody is fighting for a greater cause however. They wonder what Rollins will do if he loses tonight, having lost twice and after calling Cody out. JBL says we’ll find out tonight just how good Cody is and if he’s good enough to be Universal Champion.

We see the recent happenings between Omos, MVP and Bobby Lashley. MVP joins the panel and Booker T says Bobby Lashley abandoned MVP but the Patrick and Rosenberg disagree. MVP says he never let his emotions affect his business decisions, so he made a calculated decision to move on to bigger and better things. MVP says if he allowed his emotions to dictate his life he’d probably be Peter Rosenberg. Kayla says MVP was integral to Lashley’s success, so why did he choose Omos?

MVP says Lashley became All Mighty because of him, and Omos becomes the Nigerian Nightmare, the Colossal. JBL says screw all the woke feelings crap, he just wants to know how bad Omos will hurt Lashley tonight. MVP loves that and he says Omos is a student of the game and his gameplan tonight is to break Lashley in half. Patrick says Lashley told him that MVP is selfish. MVP says he didn’t come out at WrestleMania by himself, Lashley made it all about himself. Kayla asks for predictions and MVP says he is the x-factor.

AJ Styles Vs. Edge is up for discussion next. JBL says these two are going to steal the show tonight. Rosenberg says he’s concerned for AJ because Edge is dangerous and unpredictable. Booker T says Edge is a genius in the ring and now he’s brought back his dark side, the Ministry of Darkness version of himself. Rosenberg says when Michael Jordan was getting older he developed the fade-away jump shot, and Edge is in that same mode where he finds ways to keep going. JBL says he doesn’t know who’s going to win tonight but it’s going to be awesome regardless.

The panel reconvene to discuss Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair. JBL says Charlotte will do anything to win and he’s not sure Ronda has that in her. Rosenberg says this is really personal for Charlotte because she’s the most decorated women in WWE history, yet Ronda got the red carper rolled out for her. Booker says this business is all about passing the torch but Charlotte Flair is like Mae Young and hold on forever.

Madcap Moss joins the panel and they ask for a joke but he says not tonight. This is the biggest match of his career and he’s locked in. Kayla asks if he’s sad about losing a friend and Moss says they had some great times, but as soon as things got bad Corbin turned on him. Booker likens them to The Miz and Alex Riley and says it’s time for Moss to break out. Moss says he wasn’t thinking that at the time, he just stood up to a bully. Booker says his outfit is terrible but Moss says he’s ensuring his pants never get pulled down. Moss says Corbin is taking him lightly but he won’t let him win.

Paul Heyman and The Uso’s are interviewed backstage. Heyman wishes a happy Mother’s Day to Roman Reigns’s mother, as well as the mother of The Uso’s. Heyman says Drew McIntyre is in need of psychotherapy considering he thinks his mother is inside a sword, and he’ll get some tonight at the hands of Roman.

The panle talk our main event six-man tag between The Bloodline and RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre. JBL says Roman’s run is incredible and The Uso’s are one of the all-time great tag teams, so finding a team to face them is very unlikely but they’ve done it tonight. Rosenberg says Drew McIntyre might be the weak link because he’s he’s not family, like Roman is with his partners. JBL says Randy is a gift from God to wrestling and he might want to get back in the title picture soon. They make their predictions to end the Kick-Off Show.
