Hardland was among the NXT superstars released by WWE in another huge series of roster cuts yesterday. The monster didn’t waste much time letting the fans know that Parker Boudreaux, his independent character, was back. It sounds like Boudreaux and WWE both saw the writing on the wall.

After being paired with the demented Joe Gacy on NXT television, Hardland never really caught on. The character was an emotionless instrument of destruction under Gacy’s tutelage. Ultimately, the two were split up.

With Joe Gacy challenging Bron Breakker in the NXT Championship main event picture, there was not much left for Harland to do. On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the release. Given the way he was booked on NXT television, it sounds like everyone knew this was coming.

“Obviously, they [NXT creative] did know about Parker Boudreaux, you know, Harland, because he was taken away from Joe Gacy two weeks ago. So, clearly, they knew about him, but the other ones, obviously, they did not know about. It’s not a surprise.

They could do that with the main roster tomorrow, too, people who are doing things like that. There’s definitely people on the main roster that you could see could be. I guess the idea is to do it before the investor’s call. I don’t know.”

Harland will now test the waters of a very competitive pro wrestling market. There is always a place for big men like him somewhere. Time will tell where Parker Boudreaux winds up next.
