NXT has been enjoying its new home at the Capitol Wrestling Center (AKA WWE Performance Center) since the TakeOver 31 special in 2020. Before that, the show was taped at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. Many have missed the Full Sail days, where NXT had its greatest level of success.

WWE spent quite a bit of money building small arena at the CWC that can help simulate the “feel” of a larger arena despite its small size. Tons of thought went into the elaborate stage and lighting setup. Since the launch of NXT 2.0, the building has been synonymous with the brand.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that there are at least some discussions about a return to Full Sail University. No other details were given. WWE is at least talking about it, though.

“There are at least talks of NXT returning to Full Sail University”

The move would be a curious one after WWE spent some time and money developing the arena at the CWC. The old setup at Full Sail would have to be upgraded to include all the new and flashy NXT 2.0 branding. It is unknown if the move would be permanent or just for live shows or special events.

NXT had a very memorable run at Full Sail. The show has not been as well-received since moving, but that may have more to do with presentation and a focus on developing talent than a venue issue. We will have to wait and see if the company pulls the trigger on a return to its old stomping grounds.
