Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart had their share of controversy. If Jake “The Snake” Roberts had his say, they would have been fired a long time ago.

During a recent appearance in Talk is Jericho, Jake Roberts spoke about his time working in the WWE creative team. This taking place in the 90’s, Jake spoke about the issues between Bret and Shawn. The various issues between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels are very well-known, and Jake spoke extensively about it.

The Hall of Famer and AEW Manager stated that he told Vince McMahon to fire both the men. Jake said that in response to seeing how the WWE Chairman had to spend hours with either to simply have them work a match with each other.

“I used to have to sit when we were writing television when Shawn and Bret were throwing their pissy fights against each other. We would be trying to write television, and Vince would get on the phone for three hours with those two cats. Trying to get them to wrestle each other,” he said. “I said, ‘Vince, what are you doing? Fire the mother****ers, man, tell them to hit the f***ing road.”

Jake Roberts also chose to speak about The Kliq in the episode. The group consisted of Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and Sean Waltman. Jake believed that the controversial group almost drove the wrestling business to the ground.

“When he brought me back in ‘96 he told me, ‘Jake, look around and see where you think the problem is.’ I said, ‘it’s real simple, man, the inmates are running the asylum, The Kliq.’ The Kliq nearly killed the business,” he said. “Everybody says how great they were, well let me tell you something, they drove it to the ground, whatever.”

Jake made his mind very clear on the group from his time working as a writer. Although it is very hard to see how the Wrestling world would have done without either Bret or Shawn.

There's not much to say about me. I like writing and reading, and I adore watching Samoa Joe wrestle.
