Kevin Owens has had a long-standing relationship with The Young Bucks. Owens traveled the independent circuit with Matt and Nick Jackson. They were fixtures in the trendy Pro Wrestling Guerrilla promotion in southern California as well as Ring of Honor. That is one reason many fans were shocked to hear that KO had re-signed with WWE rather than jumping to AEW with his friends.

Owens ultimately said he made the best decision to secure future for his family. Despite being in two different wrestling organizations, Kevin still has a lot of respect for what The Bucks are doing. KO had no problem giving them props alongside recent WWE signee Cody Rhodes.

On the latest episode of WWE’s After The Bell with Corey Graves, Kevin Owens talked about the impact Cody and The Bucks have had on the wrestling industry. Owens might have stuck it out with WWE, but he knows the trio (alongside Kenny Omega) changed the entire business. KO gave props to his friends during his appearance.

“The only thing I did was he asked me for some sort of guidance because he had never been on the independent scene before, and I gave him The Young Bucks numbers. I told them, ‘You guys take care of this guy’, and look what happened?

They really changed the industry. They did. There’s no denying it. Cody went out and did that. He didn’t do it himself. He had a lot of help from a lot of people, but he was an integral part of that.”

Kevin Owens acknowledges the impact his friends had on wrestling as a whole. He was still able to independently decide what was best for him, much like Cody Rhodes. The entire landscape could look a lot different right now had Cody, The Bucks, and Kenny Omega not decided to bet on themselves.
