Britt Baker is expecting a hero’s welcome when she returns to AEW in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. Baker attended dental school at the University of Pittsburgh, where tonight’s episode of Dynamite will take place. Baker is set to wrestle Danielle Kamela in an Owen Hart Cup qualifying match.

Ahead of the big event, Fightful Select caught up with Dr. Baker. Britt shared an interesting tidbit about one opponent she would love to face in AEW. It’s not an AEW wrestler at all.

Baker said she made a push to face Deonna Purrazzo, the current Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion. Purrazzo is currently signed with Impact Wrestling. It was noted that there are plenty of complications with trying to get the match set.

“Baker told Fightful that she pushed to AEW to wrestle Deonna Purrazzo, and hasn’t since they were both very new to wrestling. She knows that many of her fans want to see it, and she thinks that it can happen, but noted even with the Forbidden Door, there are hurdles.”

Britt Baker is the longest-reigning AEW Women’s World Champion. Baker carried the company’s women’s division through some rough times before dropping the title to Thunder Rosa. Now, Britt will look to get back on track and qualify for the Owen Hart Cup.

A match with Deonna Purrazzo could be coming sometime in the future. Fans shouldn’t expect it immediately, as there is plenty to work out with Impact. Britt is just hoping to have an opportunity to face the best.
