Kenny Omega has seen both applause and criticism for his comedy matches. That being said, the 38-year-old AEW Star has defended his niche nothing that comedy has a rightful place in professional wrestling. Omega has found agreement in Colt Cabana, who seeks a similar match from him.
In a recent interview with the Going Broadway Podcast, Colt Cabana discussed how much he likes the creativity of Kenny Omega’s comedy matches in DDT-Pro, and he’d love to have a similar match with Kenny Omega, rather than a Kazuchika Okada type of match.
“I’m the number one fan of DDT wrestling, a nine-year-old girl, a blow-up doll, Kenny Omega. I think that creative aspect of Kenny is great. I don’t want to have the [Kazuchika] Okada match with Kenny Omega. I wouldn’t have the Okada match with Kenny Omega. I think a lot of wrestlers want that with Kenny. I want the girl match; that would be something that I would want.”
The 41-year-old also opened up on his goal to wrestle in Tokyo Dome. Discussing the possibility of fulfilling his goal, Cabana wishes he is able to do it once before his potential, or his body wraps up.
“And then on the flip side, I know this isn’t in the question, but like, a goal that I’ve made for myself is I want to wrestle in the Tokyo Dome. And I was very close to that. Yano and I were becoming a unit and I assume that’s what it probably would’ve or could’ve led to. I made a decision to stay in America and obviously, we just went over the pandemic, which was a great decision for me. But I think before it all kind of wraps up, or my potential or my body wraps up, I would love to tag with Yano in the Tokyo Dome. That’s kind of one of my really last goals.”
Before the pandemic, Cabana was seen teaming up with Toru Yano in NJPW. The two were teammates in World Tag League 2019. Cabana had his last wrestling bout on the March 8th episode of AEW Dark.
