Thunder Rosa is touted as one of the best in-ring female pro wrestlers in the whole world right now and rightfully so. Rosa took her time to establish herself as one of the top stars in AEW as well. Tony Khan also commented on Thunder Rosa’s win last week on AEW Dynamite.

Thunder Rosa’s time in the NWA certainly helped her hone her craft as a professional wrestler as well. Rosa had a longstanding feud with Britt Baker, which lasted for well over a year.

It culminated on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, as Thunder Rosa challenged Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s Title in a steel cage match. After a bloody war, it was Thunder Rosa who stood tall and became the new champion.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, AEW President Tony Khan talked about Thunder Rosa winning the AEW Women’s Title in her adopted hometown of San Antonio. Texas. Khan stated that it was simply perfect for Rosa to win in her hometown.

“It was incredible. I thought it was very fitting that one year after the original St. Patrick’s Day Slam, which won the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Match of the Year, and Dave [LeGreca], I know you spoke about it as your pick for Match of the Year also last year. To come back this year at St. Partick’s Day Slam with a Steel Cage Match in Thunder Rosa’s hometown San Antonio, I thought it was such an incredible way for Thunder Rosa to win the championship for the first time.

It was a great milestone to have the first Mexican-American women’s World Champion ever in AEW, in Thunder Rosa, crowned in her hometown. I thought it was so cool. The entrance was her idea with the mariachi band. She asked me about it after the pay-per-view, I thought it was awesome and I was just really excited about this match, and I thought it was such a great way to thank the fans, and it was a great way for AEW to come to San Antonio.”

We will have to wait and see how Thunder Rosa will be booked as the AEW Women’s World Champion. Fans are certainly excited to see the numerous matches Rosa can have now on AEW television.
