CM Punk has influenced a generation of fans and wrestlers and there’s no denying that. The Chicago native has been one of the mainstays in AEW ever since he debuted for the company in August of 2021.

Punk was one of the many wrestlers that were rumored to appear at the recently-held Royal Rumble PPV event. Of course, that didn’t happen and Punk spent the rumble week continuing his program with MJF and trolling fans on Twitter.

The 43-year-old appeared on Abe Kanan’s podcast to comment on the speculations about him and fellow AEW stars Cody Rhodes and Jon Moxley working the WWE PPV.

“This is the first year they had the Royal Rumble that I have been back in wrestling, but I work somewhere else, and people were still making sh*t up and saying I was going to be in the Rumble or Cody (Rhodes) was going to be in the Rumble or (Jon) Moxley was going to be in the Rumble.

“Like I get it, people want to be excited about it. But if you want to watch us, watch AEW. That’s what Twitter is for. Twitter is a cesspool and it’s garbage and I want to delete it off my phone, but every once in a while it’s a ray of sunshine and fun stuff.”

Ironically, Punk’s last televised appearance for the WWE was at the 2014 Royal Rumble. The former WWE champion left the company soon after due to growing frustrations with the creative and recurring health concerns.
