Shad Gaspard spent nearly a decade in WWE and several more years on the independent circuit during his successful wrestling career. Shad was most well-remembered for his team with JTG in WWE known as Cryme Tyme. The superstar tragically passed away in May of 2020.

Gaspard and his son were caught in a rip current off the coach of Venice Beach. Shad saved his son. His life was lost as he committed the heroic act. Gaspard was pulled under. A search effort eventually recovered his body.

Shad Gaspard would’ve celebrated his 41st birthday on January 13th, 2022. WWE took a moment to remember their former employee via Twitter. Shad was referred to as amazing.

“Remembering the late, amazing Shad on his birthday.”

Hundreds of comments flooded the tweet as fans reflected on the wrestler who died a real-life hero. Shad Gaspard did not die in vain. A brave, unselfish act saved a young life.

The entire staff at Ringside News is thinking of Shad Gaspard’s family on this anniversary. Wrestling fans have only begun to celebrate his life. Shad took the superhero side of the wrestling business and applied it to his real life. Rest in peace.
