Tony Khan has never shied away from letting everybody know how he feels. The AEW president has frequently made comments about WWE. Khan regularly brings up the ratings for Dynamite and Rampage and is happy to compare them to his competition.

WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite went head-to-head for 75 weeks in what became known as the “Wednesday Night Wars.” Tony is happy to remind anyone who will listen that AEW dominated the key demographic in all but one week during that period. NXT’s lone ratings victory came in December of 2019 when the show was main evented by future AEW star Adam Cole and Finn Balor.

Khan recently discussed the Wednesday Night Wars in an appearance on the Rasslin’ podcast. Tony joked that he would like to make a documentary about the competition. It would be called named after AEW’s ratings record against NXT during the period where the two shows directly opposed each other.

“The only time in the demo, in the Wednesday Night War, which, somebody told me, and it’s good advice, maybe we should make our own documentary of the Wednesday Night War. Like a one-sided documentary. I think it’s a really good idea. We could call it like 76 to 1 or 75 to 1.

The one involved Adam Cole in a huge match and most of the good quarters, I thought he was such an important part of it, but also, you can’t overlook Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish. When Bobby Fish came in, it made total sense. Are we not going to put Bobby Fish and Adam Cole back together?”

Tony Khan sees no problem with mocking his competition. Khan did the same thing when SmackDown went head to head with an hour of Rampage. AEW won the Wednesday Night Wars, but the company has a long way to go if they want to beat the juggernaut that is WWE.
