Cody Rhodes is one of the mainstays of AEW television and an integral part of the company behind the scenes as well. Rhodes has certainly honed his craft over the years in numerous ways. It seems he opened up about his infamous flaming table spot as well.

Last month, Cody Rhodes squared off against Andrade El Idolo in an Atlanta Street Fight. In the final moments of the match, Cody Rhodes superplexed Andrade onto a flaming table.

This allowed Cody Rhodes to pick up the win and essentially end his feud with Andrade El Idolo. Rhodes took the brunt of the bump as he went through the flaming table while Andrade missed it. Jim Cornette certainly hated the spot as well.

While speaking to Connor Casey of ComicBook, Cody Rhodes talked about the flaming table spot. Rhodes added that he believes it was the dumbest thing Rhodes had ever done.

“I’m going to try and keep my language somewhat clean, but (that was) maybe the dumbest thing I’ve ever done But man, it was cool. Dumb, but also what a good image, in terms of just that’s how we do Dynamite. That specific incident wasn’t so much about topping myself, I just hate in wrestling when you’ll hear, “Oh, it’s a street fight. It’s a Tupelo Falls Count Anywhere match or whatever,” and then it’s just Basic Betty, it’s checking boxes versus actually taking that level of danger into account. And that’s what I wanted to do. I wanted to make sure people know that, if there’s a Street Fight on AEW, it’s a Street Fight. It’s going to leave you with a lasting memory and, ultimately, I think we did that.”

Cody Rhodes is also set to defend his TNT Title against Sammy Guevara at the Battle Of The Belts event on January 8th. It remains to be seen whether he will successfully retain his title or not.
