Kris Statlander is the resident alien of All Elite Wrestling. Kris is billed as being from the Andromeda Galaxy and her character is out of this world. Her cosmic DNA unfortunately wasn’t enough to prevent very serious knee injury she suffered in June of 2020.

Statlander needed surgery if she hoped to make a comeback. The timing of the injury could not have been worse. The initial COVID-19 outbreak was reaching its peak and hospitals were calling off non-life saving surgeries left and right.

Kris talked to Chris Denker of Into The Danger Zone about the anxiety she experienced. Statlander was forced to wait it out as no doctors were able to help her. It was a struggle that she won’t soon forget.

“A lot of negative thoughts. I’m a bit of a psycho and one of the first things that I was thinking was, ‘How am I going to workout now?’ Not even ‘How am I going to get back to wrestling?’ It was during COVID, it was the very height of COVID, and it was like, ‘How am I going to get help? How am I going to do anything?’ It was such a nightmare. Usually, it’s like, go in, get the MRI, get surgery right away.

It took almost two months for me to get my surgery. It was a nightmare and so frustrating, the whole process of it, on top of being stuck in the house because of COVID. You can’t go out and do anything. It was a very dark time for me. There was like four months straight where I cried every single day like, ‘What am I even doing this for? What is happening?’ Then I got to come back and I go, ‘I’m good.’ It was a struggle. I would never wish that upon anybody.”

Kris Statlander was eventually able to have the surgery she needed. Her return came in March of 2021 when she came out of an arcade machine to attack Penelope Ford. Statlander worked her way back up the card and received an AEW Women’s World Championship match against Dr. Britt Baker on the All Out pay-per-view. Now that she’s fully healthy, Kris is hoping that her 2022 is out of this world.
