Brock Lesnar winning the WWE Title at Day 1 was not the original plan at all, but WWE made the decision to call that audible. The company had to make the most of things to compensate for losing such a big match.

Fightful Select reported on the WWE Day 1 situation and all of the changes that went on Saturday afternoon. Brock Lesnar is always an interesting case and Day 1 was no different.

It was reported that match times were adjusted and segments were also added to beef up the event since they were losing the Universal Title match. That Reigns vs Lesnar encounter was blocked off to be the main event match.

We’re told that match times were adjusted, segments were added, and video packages added to help make up the time lost in losing the WWE Universal Title match.

It was also reported that, despite being a free agent, Brock Lesnar was listed as a SmackDown Superstar internally.

Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE changing Day 1 plans will not change WrestleMania’s plans for Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. We reported that they were told backstage that this angle will “enhance” that storyline. We were also told that Brock Lesnar will still appear on SmackDown as WWE Champion.
