The COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a standstill back in 2020 and the world continues to be affected by it every single day. The pro wrestling world is slowly recovering and putting on shows again compared to last year now as well. It seems WWE is still issuing fines for not wearing masks backstage.

WWE has stopped testing all of their talents on a weekly basis for the virus, while AEW still tests their talents weekly. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is still issuing fines to anyone caught without wearing a mask backstage.

It was also said that a COVID-19 memo was recently issued within the company and it was ruled that masks are mandatory backstage at all times. In addition to that, WWE has recommended that employees get a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot, but it has not yet been mandated.

WWE got a lot of slack for how they initially handled the outbreak of COVID-19 last year but they have certainly learned their lesson since then. With their Day 1 pay-per-view set to take place on January 1st, 2022, it remains to be seen how the event will be received by fans.
