Jon Moxley debuted at AEW Double Or Nothing 2019 and became one of the mainstays of the company since then. He is also confident when it comes to AEW getting more fans thanks to its diverse product. It seems Jon Moxley has an interesting view on modern day pro wrestling.

Moxley also isn’t afraid of competing in ultra-violent matches as he made a name for himself in such matches in the past. This includes his matches against GCW legend Nick Gage.

The pro wrestling world is an ever-changing omg. People are aware of its scripted nature unlike in the past. However, they still enjoy it as an art form.

While speaking on the Throwing Down podcast , Jon Moxley talked about the current pro wrestling industry. He then compared pro wrestling to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and explained his reasoning.

“That is not the case anymore in 2021. There’s real fighting, which is what you do, and there’s this. Fans are very passionate about it, but they know it’s — nobody’s being fooled into thinking they’re watching a legitimate thing, that’s a completely different separate sport now in 2021. What it is now is like the Marvel Universe, for instance. In real life, no one can shoot f-ckin’ spiderwebs out of their fingers or whatever, but in the Marvel Universe, there’s a guy that can and that’s accepted and you know that. So when he shoots somebody in the face with a spiderweb, Spider-Man, you totally accept it. So in pro wrestling, it’s like you have to understand the universe and then once you accept it like this is this fictional universe we’re living in, then you’re into it.”

Jon Moxley defeated 10 in the AEW World Title Elimination tournament this week on AEW Dynamite. We will have to wait and see if Moxley will be able to win the whole thing. It is likely Moxley wants the title he unceremoniously lost.

h/t to Wrestle Zone for the quotes.
