Tony Khan continues his national media blitz. It seems like the AEW owner is everywhere these days. He’s doing multiple interviews almost every day to promote the company.

In a recent talk with Josh Martinez of Z100 in New York City, Khan talked about the upcoming Owen Hart tournament and it’s prize. Khan says that Chris Jericho helped to build the relationship between AEW and Hart’s widow, Martha.

“During the pandemic, being stuck at home, I spent a lot of time building relationships with people all over the world, and Chris Jericho is a big relationship builder too and he spent a lot of time building relationships. And he had built this really good relationship with Martha Hart, and they had gotten to know each other and he introduced me to her and said that he thought it would be great if we work together to honor Owen somehow. And I had this idea for an Owen Hart Cup. In movies, they have the Oscars, and in TV, the Emmys and so forth, so I thought it’d be really cool if there was ‘The Owen’ in wrestling and that would be a trophy that everybody could win. So, I’m very excited to talk more about The Owen soon. Without revealing all the details, The Owen will be a very important trophy in wrestling.”

Owen Hart will also receive new merchandise and spot in the upcoming All Elite Wrestling video game. The Blackhart even has his own music created by Mikey Ruckus.

Tony Khan says he has big plans for the Owen Hart tournament. CM Punk is among the wrestlers who has thrown their hat in the ring to compete.

AEW initially wanted to call the tournament the King of Harts tournament. The promotion was blocked from using that name, instead going with The Owen. You can catch Khan’s entire interview with Z100 below.
