The WWE Draft is ongoing and it will continue tonight on Raw. The New Day was called over to SmackDown as Big E went to the red brand. This upset quite few fans as WWE made it clear that Big E, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston will remain separate. There was a bit of unhappiness within the Raw writers’ room as well.

We exclusively reported that this year’s WWE draft was a bit “tame” backstage in regards to people arguing about Superstar placements. The real decisions were made behind closed doors and there wasn’t a lot of input from others.

In asking for clarification, Ringside News was told by a tenured member of the creative team that “one Raw writer” was upset about losing Kofi Kingston to SmackDown. This writer argued that Raw was losing a very valuable member of their roster.

The argument was made that Kofi Kingston is a perfect “standby champion.” That point was obviously dismissed as WWE decided to place Woods and Kingston on the blue brand while Big E remains on top of the Raw side.

WWE still has half of the roster to pick tonight, but the New Day’s spots are already in place. Only time will tell if Kofi Kingston is viewed the same way on SmackDown as a “standby champion.” We will continue our in-depth coverage of the 2021 WWE Draft right here at Ringside News.
