Bronson Reed was released from his contract and that was a big surprise. The former NXT North American Champion was set for a main roster call-up, and that likely led to him dropping the title. This caused NXT to change up their plans for him in a big way.
While talking to Inside Kradle, Bronson Reed revealed that he was one of the Superstars who knew his long-term plan in NXT. He was supposed to hold the NXT North American Title for much longer, even throughout the end of 2021. Sadly, those plans did not turn out and they were changed prior to his release.
“The way that big companies, especially WWE work, is that some people get told what their future might hold and where the story might be going further down the track. I was given that by Hunter himself, and I worked closely with Shawn Michaels as well. I sort of tracked out that I was going to be North American Champion, be that strong North American Champion that defends his belt all the way to the end of the year, and then eventually face off with the NXT Champion. That was the story that was going to happen, but then obviously with WWE, things change on a week to week basis. I believe those things when they happen. Even when they told me I was becoming the North American Champion, I was like, ‘Ok, I’ll wait until it actually happens before I get happy.’ I didn’t expect to be released amongst all that.”
Bronson Reed is now free to seek out his own destiny in the pro wrestling world. He is also trying to find a company that will vouch for him so he can work in the United States. We’ll have to see what’s next for him, but if WWE didn’t change up Triple H’s original plans, Bronson Reed would still be NXT North American Champion right now.
