Cody Rhodes is the EVP of AEW and has remained a babyface in the company since its inception. Rhodes‘ is one of the top stars in the company, as he has competed in several memorable matches and great segments over the years.
AEW held their highly anticipated Grand Slam event last week and Arthur Ashe Stadium was certainly a night to remember for fans and pro wrestlers alike. It also featured the return of Brandi Rhodes to AEW television.
Cody Rhodes’ first match in well over a month saw him face off against Malakai Black. While Cody Rhodes was the babyface, he received a lot of boos from the crowd in New York City as fans simply didn’t want to have anything to do with him.
While speaking on the latest edition of his podcast, Hall of Fame, Booker T said that Cody Rhodes turning heel could be the best thing that can happen to him.
“I haven’t been watching every show or anything like that. But there again, it could be the best reaction in the world if he’s going to be that heel that people are going to love to hate. There again, I don’t know if that’s what it was. I don’t know if it was go-away heat like, now you’re Hollywood. You’re like the pot calling the kettle black. One of those type of deals. I don’t know. We’ll see in the end as far as how this thing plays out. Hey bro, it might be the best thing that could happen to him. Sometimes you slip on a banana peel, and it could be the best banana you ever had in your life. I’m serious man. So, you just go with it sometimes. We’ll see how this thing plays out,”
It remains to be seen if Cody Rhodes will ever turn heel in order to capitalize on all the boos he gets.
