Samoa Joe was set to lead NXT in to a new era, but he had to relinquish his NXT Title due to an undisclosed injury. The timing of this was not lost on anyone and there are some interesting theories about what is going on.

Bryan Alvarez stated during Wrestling Observer Live that there is belief within NXT that Samoa Joe isn’t really injured. That being said, he might not be available to wrestle. Joe has other responsibilities in NXT, including acting as a scout. so that could play into things. No matter the reason, it seems that some are under the assumption that Samoa Joe is not really injured.

“WWE is saying he’s injured, but I have heard from someone else who strongly believes that he is not inured, but he is not available, so you can make of that what you will. I have heard from a third person who does strongly believe this whole thing is a work to get the title off of him to do a championship tonight.”

We will have to see what happens tonight when NXT 2.0 kicks off. They changed the name of their venue to just “NXT,” and the script for the show has been torn up multiple times today already. This could be a very interesting time, to say the least.
