WWE’s NXT brand saw some surprises as Adam Cole and Pete Dunne’s contracts expired far before anyone in the brand expected. Cole left NXT and he is now in AEW, and we’re not certain what is going on with Dunne, but he was offered contract over SummerSlam weekend.

According toFightful, Johnny Gargano’s contract is expiring in December, but that wasn’t a surprise to the black and gold brand. Instead, they knew that Gargano’s deal is expiring and they plan to make a contract offer sometime in the fall.

It was also noted that WWE went through and reviewed a lot of contracts, especially after the situation where Malakai Black was able to arrive in AEW just 35 days after his WWE release via clerical error.

It was specified to us that this wasn’t a case similar to Adam Cole and Pete Dunne where the contract coming due came as a surprise, and the company has reviewed many of the deals since those and the Malakai Black 30 day non-compete situation.

It was also noted that Johnny Gargano’s contract expiration date of December was actually around the time they thought Adam Cole’s deal was running up. We will have to see what Johnny Gargano does, but Adam Cole obviously decided to leave.
