Malakai Black is now in AEW, but he didn’t go as Tommy End like many thought he would. That Tommy End name is spoken like it’s his real name, but nobody is calling him “Aleister Black” anymore. There is a reason for that, because WWE owns that former moniker.

While speaking on his wife, Zelina Vega’s, Twitch stream, Malakai Black revealed how that new AEW name came about. It has a Biblical reference to it as he drew it from the Old Testament. It also has connections to “Children of The Corn,” a film that is quite unsettling, but also fits perfectly with who Malakai Black is.

“I was looking for an Old Testament name and I found one that had a double-meaning. I was a big fan of Children of the Corn when I grew up and I felt that, with the character, [the name] kind of fit.”

The Bible and Children of the Corn don’t merge often enough, but they did for Malakai Black. Now Black is set to make a big name for himself in AEW, and his booking so far has absolutely exhibited that the company is going to give him far more time to show what he can do on Dynamite than WWE ever allowed him to do on any brand he traveled to under Vince McMahon’s umbrella.
