Since its inception in 2019, AEW has strived to provide a proper alternative product to WWE. For the most part, they have succeeded but there are still many areas of improvement.

For many, AEW was seen as a breath of fresh air and also that old school nostalgia as the company tried to balance both the modern and old school aspects of pro wrestling. However, it also doesn’t stray far from the weird aspects of pro wrestling as well.

It seems AEW President Tony Khan had a very bizarre idea for a Thanksgiving episode of AEW Dynamite. While speaking on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, former BTE Champion Charlie Ramone, who is the Special Projects Manager in AEW, talked about his time working with the company.

Ramone recalled the time Tony Khan asked him to get props that were reminiscent of the Gobbledy Gooker as Khan apparently wanted a giant egg and turkey for a Thanksgiving episode of AEW Dynamite.

“As far as acquisitions, there’s a lot that you haven’t seen that I’ve had to turn down. Probably one of the weirdest ones was the turkey for the Thanksgiving episode. Tony wanted a giant egg and a turkey. Because that was a little bit out of my scope and I had a lot of stuff to do, that got delegated to another group of people.

And when that didn’t get accomplished, I remember Tony sitting there talking to me saying, ‘I was told that just couldn’t happen. How on earth could it happened in 1985, but it can’t happen in 2019?’ I said, ‘I got no clue.’ Thankfully, I didn’t have to stay on that project. That would probably be one of the weirdest things that I have tried to make or acquire, a giant egg and turkey costume for someone to pop out of, like The Gobbledy Goooker.”

It is certainly thankful that AEW didn’t go ahead with something similar to The Gobbledy Goooker as that would have hurt the company’s reputation more than anything.
