WWE is giving a long look to several NXT Superstars who might find themselves on the main roster soon enough. They have been doing dark matches prior to RAW and SmackDown for the past several weeks as well, but that was not the case prior to the final RAW in the ThunderDome.

The company taped their final episode of RAW yesterday in the ThunderDome. Next week’s episode of the red brand was taped yesterday, the same day that NXT was focused on the Great American Bash. That might have played into the reason why WWE didn’t have any NXT Superstars at the Yuengling Center yesterday.

According to PW Insider, WWE did not hold any dark matches prior to RAW’s taping yesterday. The company simply taped Main Event and RAW as planned without any tryout matches beforehand.

Karrion Kross, who was at the Great American Bash, competed in a dark match on Monday prior to RAW going live. He was at the Capitol Wrestling Center last night where an NXT Title match was booked for next week between himself and Johnny Gargano.

WWE is looking to bring new faces up to the main roster. The draft is going down after SummerSlam, but they could already have their eye on Karrion Kross and others for main roster roles. The big question is what will happen with Kross defends the NXT Title against Johnny Gargano next week, because that could provide him an opportunity to drop his title in preparation for an eventual call-up. Bronson Reed, who also received several tryout matches on the main roster, just dropped the NXT North American Title as well.

Is Karrion Kross losing the NXT Title to Johnny Gargano on NXT next week? Sound off in the comments!
