Samoa Joe was released from his WWE contract in April, but it didn’t take him long to end up on WWE television once again as a part of NXT. The former NXT Champion is not back in the black and gold brand as an active competitor, but he does plan on doing plenty of enforcing.

Triple H was a huge part of bringing Samoa Joe to NXT. He explained to the NY Post that Joe’s transition to NXT wasn’t really a full release. He equated it to a pitcher on a baseball team getting released from his duties as a player and moving into a managerial role.

“It wasn’t like he got let go from one part of the company and the other part of the company [hired him]. It’s all one big company. Everybody knows what everybody’s doing. … There was an opportunity for him to transition, no different than you would say, ‘Well, he was released from this pitching contract and started managing the team and became a coach.’ It’s a similar situation.”

Samoa Joe is just getting started in his new role with NXT. He has also teased a few huge matches along the way. Some of those matches might never happen, especially if WWE calls up Karrion Kross before the two can collide. There are still plenty of NXT Superstars that fans would love to see take a Coquina Clutch eventually.

Joe already made it 100% clear that he wants to wrestle again. The big question is how soon that will happen. In the meantime, at least he is staying on television.
