Roman Reigns was pushed as a top babyface in WWE for years, but fans rejected him. They even booed him out of the building as The Rock raised his hand in victory. That is something that the current incarnation of Reigns has not forgotten about at all.

While talking to Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, Roman Reigns was asked about those fans who booed him relentlessly for years despite his push. He was questioned about a chip on his shoulder and if that drives him. The Tribal Chief confirmed that chip on his shoulder still remains and he cannot wait to interact with live fans once again to showcase that aspect of his character.

“Can I say it? Yeah it’s huge, man; and that’s exactly what drives me. So, with this run alone, what I’ve showcased in the ThunderDome alone, I could walk away on top of what I’ve already did.”

“Then you take in this last year of performances and everything I’ve set out to do, I’ve either done it or I’m in the middle of that point to getting to achievement, but that’s the one thing we haven’t showcased is that relationship with the fans, with the WWE Universe, with those people who probably made it a little bit harder than it should have had to be, but at the same time through all of these hardships and struggles, all that pressure out comes a diamond, right? I wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t have these different adversities to work through as far as a performer, and all these different learning lessons and, you know, these growing pains that I’ve gone through, but man once we get to a point that’s what makes my character and what I’m doing so special is I’ve made a relationship with every character in the company […] but I haven’t been able to showcase that relationship with a live crowd yet.”

Reigns said the got “one little taste” of interacting with live fans at WrestleMania, but he wants way more than that. The company’s return to live touring will allow an organic reaction to be heard again on WWE television. It will be very interesting to see if live fans continue booing the Tribal Chief after such an impressive run.

What’s your take on Roman Reigns’ current run? Is he still going to get booed by live fans?
