WWE has released a roster’s worth of talent from their multiple brands over the past few months. A rumor of an impending sale started to bubble up, but it doesn’t seem like there is much traction to that now. The fact is that there are still a ton of talented people out of work now because the company wanted to improve their bottom line.

The company also fired over 60 backstage staffers as they merged multiple departments into one division. This is an interesting time for WWE and things could be changing in a big way.

While speaking to Smack Talk, Dutch Mantel went over WWE’s process of firing so many people. He was alarmed by how many people is letting go. Those sale rumors also got to Dutch, but he said that ultimately they are not giving Superstars a chance before axing them.

“Well, talent being let go isn’t something that doesn’t surprise anyone but it’s the level and the amount that WWE has been letting go or released… what’s the reason for it? A while back we said they were probably on the verge of being sold to somebody else but I haven’t heard anything like that in the last couple of weeks. I don’t know why they’re doing this because I don’t think they’re giving them a chance.”

There are rumors that more WWE releases could be on the way. This is an uncertain time and there are no real answers as to exactly what Nick Khan’s endgame is for Vince McMahon’s company. They gutted the 205 Live brand last week and many more unfortunate releases could be on the way.
