WWE had a mystery hacker character floating around SmackDown for a while. It was Mustafa Ali, and that was later revealed as part of the Retribution angle, but it wasn’t the intention to keep that secret for so long.

While speaking to Wrestle Talk, former WWE Superstar Tucker revealed that he asked about the hacker angle. This was when the hacker started getting involved in Otis and Mandy Rose’s storyline. Tucker wanted to know what was going on, but he was told not to worry about it.

“I don’t know who the hacker was supposed to be or what that… that wasn’t really part of our story until it became part of our story, and it was like, ‘Hey, this is how we’re going to present this information, don’t worry about… whatever basically. This is how it’s gonna be presented and this is how it works for you guys, and outside of that, you don’t really need to worry about it’.”

Tucker also wanted to form stable with Mandy Rose and Otis, but WWE rejected that idea.

WWE didn’t go all the way with the hacker angle, and it was dropped when Mustafa Ali went to RAW. This was later rehashed during the Retribution storyline, but it wasn’t even the intention to mention it. They simply threw that in as a tie-in of sorts, but it never amounted to anything. WWE told Tucker not to worry about the hacker angle, and it appears they had a reason to say that.
