AEW is playing the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens on September 22nd and New York is set to get their first taste of AEW. Those fans are likely to sell out the tennis stadium, and bring a big show for the venue’s first pro wrestling event. Some are under the idea that Vince McMahon needs to be worried.

The New York Daily News ran a big feature article about AEW’s first New York event. The headline was very bold when proclaiming: “Wham, Bam! Look Out, McMahon.” This was not lost on many people, especially those who are aware that the New York area is widely known as “McMahon Country.”

Britt Baker tweeted out this article which features herself curb stomping Hikaru Shida onto the AEW Women’s Title. All she had to say was: “Peep the NY Daily News today,” while including an emoji with sunglasses and a smile.

AEW is going to bring huge show to New York for their first event. Dynamite Grand Slam tickets might also fly out of the box office, but it will also be interesting to keep track of how many end up on the secondary market. Either way, AEW is going to bring the biggest show they can to New York to make a grand first impression.

It will be very interesting to see if WWE books something around September in the New York area to possibly take some of the shine away from this big accomplishment for AEW.

What’s your take on AEW moving into the New York market? Should Vince McMahon be worried? Sound off in the comments!
