WWE introduced the 24/7 Title because the USA Network suggested it. That title hasn’t been seen for a while, but Akira Tozawa is the current champion. The power of the networks can go to change WWE’s plans and encourage them to make more. That is apparently happening again.

We previously reported that King of the Ring is rumored to be coming back. There are also reports of Cyber Sunday type event. Those ideas could be coming at the behest of those networks that shell out a ton of dough for WWE’s dwindling viewership.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast tweeted out to expand on Wrestle Votes’ previous report about WWE’s themed events. He revealed that the networks have pitched ideas to the company in an effort to create more special programming.

Heard the following “there will be a lot more gimmicked themed shows”

The networks also have pitched special raw and smackdown shows.

We’ll have to see what kind of special gimmick shows WWE can come up with. They might be handed an idea from Fox or USA Network that they can’t refuse. This could lead to some interesting programming, but we do know to expect “a lot more gimmicked themed shows” down the line.

The big question is what they will pick. WWE has used a lot of themes over the years that could get a retreatment. King of the Ring and Cyber Sunday could be just a starting point as WWE continues their efforts to recapture attention in the marketplace.

What kind of gimmicked themed show would you like to see in WWE? Sound off in the comments!

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
