Andrade requested his WWE release and it was granted. WWE also did not hold El Idolo to any non-compete clause in the process. Now he is with AEW and very happy about that. He also wanted to make it very clear that WWE did not create him.

The former La Sombra is now in AEW, but he is also wrestling for AAA. He is an ex WWE Superstar, and will always be a former NXT Champion. He also came from CMLL and elsewhere. That won’t change either. This was something he wanted to make ultimately clear with his latest message.

I was not born in WWE,I’m ex WWE, yes! but EX CMLL EX NJPW, Now I’m the Superstar of @AEW and @luchalibreaaa

Andrade doesn’t have any feud in AEW yet, but he is slated to take on Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship at TripleMania. It will be very interesting to see if AEW mentions that big match between El Idolo and The Cleaner as they approach that event.

WWE also let many other Superstars go along with Andrade. They are all subject to non-compete clauses. We’ll have to see where they land next, but Andrade seems to be incredibly happy at this stage in his career.

Will Andrade take the AAA Mega Championship from Kenny Omega? Sound off in the comments!
