For the past couple of months, WWE has been releasing several employees including WWE Superstars, which started with the April 15th release of the likes of Samoa Joe and Mickie James.

Since then there have been numerous releases all across the board, including from NXT and over 60 backstage employees overall have been fired and yesterday, Superstars such as Braun Strowman were released.

Braun Strowman already commented on his release and many fans have been wondering why he was released in the first place. While speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T talked about Braun Strowman’s release from WWE.

Booker T stated that he was very shocked to see Braun Strowman let go as he was one of the top Superstars in the company. Booker T then said he believed the reason for Strowman getting released was due to WWE having difficulty in finding credible opponents for him.

“Yeah, it definitely made me go, ‘Wow!,’ you know, ‘Braun Strowman?’ And then I started looking at it from a business perspective, you know, if it is true, the rumors out there saying Braun Strowman had a huge contract and he was making a lot of money. When doing budget cuts, that’s the one thing you’re going to be thinking of – ‘Who do we really need? Who’s the guy we really need here to keep this thing running?

And, you know, take nothing away from Braun Strowman. He was an enigma, he was the guy, you know, somewhat of a throwback to the guys that did it much before him. Look at Braun Strowman, even being the enigma that he was, it was kind of hard to match Braun Strowman up with more than 2-3 guys on the roster.”

While WWE’s official reasoning was budget cuts, perhaps there is more to this than initially thought. Regardless, we will have to wait and see what is next in store for Braun Strowman. He could certainly go to AEW, which Mick Foley would approve of.
