WWE likes to own any name that they can, even if they don’t plan on using it anymore. This is the case with Mike Bennett’s name, even though he was released in April, 2020.

According to Heel By Nature, WWE finally secured the trademark for Mike Kanellis. It took them long enough, because they started the process in 2018. After almost three years, WWE finally owns the name Mike Kanellis and Mike Bennett is fine with that.

The current ROH star, who doesn’t plan on returning to WWE, tweeted out in response to the news that his old name is finally locked down. He had a great idea of what WWE can do with that name as well.

“Keep it and burn it.”

Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis are both much happier in ROH. The couple considered it homecoming when they finally returned after a long hiatus due to being fired during a pandemic.

They might have been making a lot of money in WWE, but the company didn’t give them the opportunities they really wanted for their careers. Instead, the Power of Love fizzled and then they were released. At least WWE owns the Mike Kanellis name now.
