AEW has come under fire on countless occasions because of their referees. Jim Ross has openly stated that he’s even helped coach referees in the past, but they still keep making some basic mistakes. Former sports entertainment referee Jimmy Korderas understands those issues well, because he keeps seeing them every week.

During a recent Reffin’ Rant, Korderas opened up about AEW’s referees yet again. He also called out one big blown spot during the main event where Miro’s shoulders were on the mat for a pinfall, but it was ignored.

“The main event — Miro had Darby Allin locked in that submission hold, but Miro’s shoulders were on the mat for at least a five count that the referee could count the submission.”

“The only time that the count actually mattered was when they had to change the finish because Orange Cassidy got legitimately knocked out, so Aubrey had to count to ten while both men were down. I get being different, but rules still matter.”

AEW has yet to call an actual DQ finish for a match, and they have been in plenty of situations where a DQ would be appropriate. The referees continue ignoring those things so the matches continue. At a certain point, the heels will have to up their game even more because they keep getting away with all of their dirty tricks.

Do you think AEW needs to change how their referees operate? Sound off in the comments!
