WWE RAW included a rather scary moment this week as Sheamus landed on Humberto Carrillo and the match was called off. Carrillo is fine now, but the match did not end as planned.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez revealed why Sheamus’ hand was raised despite the double count out finish. He said that it all had to do with the original plans that WWE had for the match.

“The injury is obviously the biggest concern, but I was checking to see if Humberto was okay yesterday, and I got the A-Okay that he’s fine. I also was told, and this is why they raised Sheamus’ hand, because Sheamus was supposed to win the match, okay?”

“So, Sheamus was supposed to win. Something goes wrong. Both guys are outside the ring, the referee has to call it off. Instead of stopping the match and waving it off, he declares Sheamus the winner.”

This also begs the question of what WWE’s plan was for this situation as Humberto Carrillo, someone who has been chasing Sheamus for weeks, was supposed to lose to the Celtic Warrior again. Perhaps WWE will announce something else for those two soon because it was reported that Carrillo could wrestle today if he was needed.
