WWE is holding special episode of SmackDown this week, but we’re not 100% sure what they will be doing. In fact, their own employees are in the dark about their plan for the Throwback SmackDown this week on Fox. They do have one match booked.

Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE staffers were told that they would be told at a later date about details concerning this Throwback SmackDown. The throwback aspect might be in name and a few design changes only so they can try to get larger ratings.

Seth Rollins and Cesaro will have a WrestleMania rematch during this week’s SmackDown. That is the only match booked so far, answering a challenge that Cesaro laid down for The Messiah last week on Friday Night SmackDown.

WWE aired promos for the Throwback SmackDown multiple times during RAW, but they only announced that one match.

We’ll have to see if they announce anything in the next few days for Friday’s show. Right now fans have one match to look forward to and it’s a throwback from WrestleMania 37. Luckily, Rollins vs Cesaro was one of the best matches throughout the two days of WrestleMania 37.
