AEW swerved fans in a big way when MJF introduced his new Pinnacle stable instead of taking over the Inner Circle. Now we have Blood & Guts coming next week, which will be bloody war between the two factions.

While speaking to Wrestling Observer Radio, Chris Jericho explained when they first pitched the Pinnacle idea to him. He first heard about it “months and months ago” and it will give AEW a chance to focus on building stars like FTR, Shawn Spears, and Wardlow at the same time.

“That was kinda not my say. I know, that was pitched to me months and months ago with FTR, and obviously Wardlow, he’s another guy we’re going to start to build now, FTR, Spears was the one to me, I was like, ‘Spears, really?’ Then we saw that I think he cut a great promo the other night at the Parley and he’s a guy who’s been on the periphery for a while and there’s a big upside to Spears.”

Chris Jericho also said that “there’s a long way to go” with the feud between Inner Circle and Pinnacle. Blood & Guts will not be the final chapter in that story, but only a really big crescendo in the beginning.
