ROH picked up a couple of former WWE Superstars from the company’s April 15th, releases last year. EC3, Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis are all in Ring Of Honor now. The company released ten more Superstars on April 15th this year. That brings up another interesting question regarding whether ROH will be interested in anyone this time around.

While speaking to Wrestling Inc, Maria Kanellis was asked about the possibility of some of the recent WWE releases making their way to ROH. She praise Mickie James and Chelsea Green. Maria said she even spoke to The IIconics on the day of their release, and they were in good spirits. She is uncertain if timing will work out to bring any of them in at this point.

“The women’s division in Ring of Honor has already seen some of these people. Mickie was essential to the beginning of the women’s division in Ring of Honor. So yes, we would love that. Is timing going to work out? I’m not so sure. As much as I would love to when we’re going to shoot the tournament to be outside the 90 days, there’s also the fact that production is when production is. There’s no getting around that. People know when it’s going to be. We schedule everything. You have to make sure that your cameramen, your lighting, your crew, everybody is set for those days.”

“Chelsea I worked with in Impact. Mickie I worked with in WWE. The IIconics I never got to work with, but they are iconic women and they are sweethearts. I talked with them the day they were released and they were in good spirits. I would love to have them all, but I don’t know if the timing’s going to work out.”

WWE has a 90-day non-compete clause on any Superstar that is released from the company. There are rare exceptions to this rule like with Andrade who had no non-compete clause. We’ll have to see where all of the recent releases end up next, but they are certainly on many radars at the moment.
