WWE released ten Superstars from their contracts on April 15th, one year removed from their last mass firing spree. Kalisto was a part of the cuts this time around, but he might have already wanted out.

We previously reported that Kalisto wanted out of the Lucha House Party situation. According to Fightful Select, he also openly expressed a desire to become a free agent in 2019, but WWE signed him to a new deal last summer.

Many we spoke to within WWE said that in 2019 he’d openly discussed the possibility of free agency, and his deal would have been up in the summer of 2020.

Kalisto gained a ton of praise for getting in better shape while he was off. He returned ready for action, but WWE didn’t really have much for him to do. Kalisto will soon have the opportunity to take any booking he desires as his non-compete clause continues ticking down.
