Tony Khan On Why He Didn’t Promote Impact Wrestling’s Rebellion Event More

The pro wrestling landscape underwent a huge change when AEW and Impact Wrestling started a working relationship together, as fans get to see stars from both companies work together. Most notably, the Good Brothers appearing every week on AEW Dynamite. However, no one else from Impact has appeared on AEW Dynamite as of yet.

Impact World Champion Rich Swann is set to defend his title against AEW World Champion Kenny Omega on Impact Wrestling’s Rebellion pay-per-view this Sunday.

However, Rich Swann has barely been mentioned on AEW Dynamite and a majority of the AEW audience doesn’t know who he is. While speaking on Busted Open Radio, AEW President Tony Khan addressed the reason why the Rebellion event hasn’t been promoted much on AEW Dynamite.

He ultimately put the blame on Impact Wrestling stating that it is their responsibility to promote the event.

“Kenny will be challenging for the Impact title this weekend. People have asked me why I haven’t gone out and spent a lot of money on promoting [Rebellion]. It’s when I’ve gone to your guys’ show to promote my cards, I’ve had to pay and buy ads. It’s kind of on [Impact]. But here’s a little free ad from me — Kenny Omega is coming up this weekend to Impact Wrestling. He’s going to be wrestling for the world title. It’s possible Rich Swann could be the AEW World Champion next week. It’s also quite possible Kenny Omega will be the Impact Champion, the AAA Champion and, of course, the AEW Champion. But we shall see next week.”

We will have to see whether Kenny Omega will be able to defeat Rich Swann for the Impact World Championship and continue his goal of acquiring every major belt in pro wrestling companies.
