The Undertaker and Goldberg squared off against each other at WWE Super Showdown in 2019. For many fans this was a true dream match as they have been wanting to see the two duke it out inside the squared circle for many years.

Unfortunately, the dream match turned into a nightmare as it was a botchfest and it could have turned out to be fatal for both competitors involved.

While speaking to Alistair McGeorge of Metro.co.uk, Mike Chioda revealed that he wanted to call off the match after Goldberg hit the turnbuckle post and was concussed.

Goldberg then attempted to hit the Jackhammer on The Undertaker and nearly broke their necks in the process.

“I almost had to call an audible during the Undertaker/Goldberg match at Saudi Arabia,” recalled Chioda. “It went downhill after Goldberg got gashed open in the turnbuckle, got concussed. He was badly concussed and he got through the match, but barely. That’s when I was kinda worried because I thought, ‘oh my God!’”

“After the suplex, they almost broke their necks. ‘Oh my God, let’s get this done.’ I was waiting to hear back from somebody to say, ‘should I call this match or not because he’s not doing good at all?’”

Chioda revealed that he would have called off the match if The Undertaker had instructed him to.

“Taker tells me something, I’m doing it. I don’t care if the office in the back didn’t like it or not! Taker is one of the bosses, that’s for sure.”

The Undertaker had previously mentioned how he hated the match and regretted doing it. Both The Undertaker and Goldberg would go on to have better matches in order to redeem themselves from the colossal failure that was their Super Showdown encounter.
