Brock Lesnar lost at WrestleMania 36 and he hasn’t been back. We’ll have to see if his music surprises fans once again, but it might be a considerable wait until that happens. Paul Heyman’s routine was to announce Brock Lesnar before each match, but that didn’t happen before Lesnar’s match against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36.

While speaking to Sports Media, Paul Heyman revealed that it felt more like “masturbation” to announce the Beast Incarnate in front of an empty warehouse. His intimate relationship with the fans was not present so he didn’t feel that he could do it that time around. Little did we realize that Lesnar wouldn’t be back after that.

“Last year’s WrestleMania the main event was Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre. When Brock and I came out to the ring I said to Brock ‘I can’t announce you.’ That was our schtick. I couldn’t do it, because my dance partner wasn’t there. And my dance partner was the audience. I didn’t realize it till we were halfway down the aisle to the ring. This is going to get me in trouble with WWE but so be it, it’s the difference between sex and masturbation. Sex is with someone and it’s wonderful, it’s intimate and it’s give and take. And masturbation is by yourself.”

“I just couldn’t bring myself to pick up the mic and do that schtick without the audience there with me. Because that introduction was every bit as much about the audience doing it as it was about me doing it. And without them I’m just by myself. I didn’t feel it, I didn’t like it, I didn’t want it. And I couldn’t do it.”

Brock Lesnar’s situation is very interesting because Paul Heyman is currently engaged with Roman Reigns in one of he best storylines WWE has seen in years. We’ll have to see what would even happen to Heyman if Lesnar returned, but you can never close the door on that duo reuniting so Heyman can announce Brock Lesnar once again.
