Jim Crockett Jr. passed away last night. The pro wrestling world is waking up to this sad news as a trailblazer is now gone. He was 76-years-old.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Crockett Jr. contracted COVID-19 during his final weeks. He was then hospitalized and decided to end dialysis treatments as well. It was noted that at that point “it was a matter of time” before he passed, and Crockett knew it.

“He had health issues and then he contracted COVID, and essentially because of the previous health issues and getting COVID, it put him in the hospital and, you know it got worse and worse. As we talked about the other day he had kidney issues before and he was on kidney dialysis and his kidneys and other internal organs were shutting down. He made the call to get off dialysis and he knew it was a matter of time. I think it’s been pretty clear for a couple of days.”

Our thoughts are with the entire Crockett family and anyone else involved in this sad situation. The pro wrestling business lost a pioneer when Jim Crockett Jr. passed away. It is a shame he didn’t return to the pro wrestling fold sooner so we could get even more stories from his legendary career.
