We are sad to learn about the passing of  ‘Jumping’ Johnny De Fazio. He was 80-years-old at the time of his passing.

Richard Fitzgerald wrote on WTAE where he broke the story after revealing that De Fazio had battled cancer over the past several years.

De Fazio wrestled for WWE, under their old WWWF name, during the 1960’s and 1970’s, working with the company until 1984. He was also a four-time Junior Heavyweight Champion for the WWWF.

Later on in life, he got into politics and became a player in the Pittsburgh scene as president of the Allegheny County Council, a position he held for 19 years.

Our thoughts go out to Johnny De Fazio’s family and friends during this time. RIP.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
