WWE signed Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis to contracts, and the two came in with a lot of hype behind them. The Power Of Love didn’t last long at all before they were pushed down the card in a big way.

While speaking to the DropKick podcast, Maria Kanellis said that WWE intended to make Mike Kanellis a singles star in the company. That didn’t work out, and Kevin Owens is apparently still apologizing for fighting to have WWE sign them.

“Kevin Owens was fighting for us to come into WWE, he still apologizes, but the plan was to build Mike as a singles wrestler. Somewhere along the way, and I have a feeling it has a lot to do with him coming out with his addiction and then me announcing that I was pregnant. I think they just kind of took a step back from us and everything they wanted to do with us, but I say this to Mike all the time that the second week we were there, we were already dead in the water.”

Mike and Maria were both released on April 15th, 2020. They are now with ROH, but those contracts aren’t very long ones at all.

Kevin Owens has some pull backstage, and he can get in Vince McMahon’s ear. That doesn’t mean that all of his ideas work out the way he wants them to.
