WWE Changed Planned Winners Of Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

WWE will sometimes make plans only to change them around when fans rally behind another person in the storyline. This is apparently what happened during the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic last year.

According to Fightful Select, The Grizzled Young Veterans were actually set to win the tournament last year. Since they were only “penciled in” to win, the Boserweights took the spot due to the reaction they received.

Sadly, the Broserweights didn’t get much time to really stretch their legs as a team. The pandemic left Pete Dunne in the UK for the better part of 2020, and Riddle was on the main roster by the time the Bruiserweight returned to the black and gold brand.

It is interesting to know how long the Grizzled Young Veterans have impressed those backstage in NXT. We will have to see what’s next for them as they lost yet another Dusty Cup this year.
